Abstract:
The thermochemical generation of high charge densities in poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA) films containing inorganic salts is discovered. The sign of the charge generated upon heating of the monoelectret is dictated by the nature of the salt component (the oxidation potential of the constituent ions of the salt). The charge density is ascertained. Experiments are carried out to obtain heteroelectrets based on the polymer-salt films.
