Abstract:
The complex permittivity (epsilon' and epsilon ``) of aqueous solutions of polyvinyl alcohol and polyvinylpyrrolidone was studied in the centimeter band region at 288, 298, and 308 K. The dielectric relaxation parameters of water in these solutions were determined. The initial structure of water. was found to be damaged in solutions of polyvinyl alcohol. whereas stabilization effects predominated in solutions of polyvinylpyrrolidone. These structural changes should differently influence the character of solvation processes in water-polymer-salt systems.
