Abstract:
The results of Mossbauer study of erythrocytes from patients with malignant blood system diseases are presented. Mossbauer hyperfine parameters (quadrupole splitting and isomer shift) of patient oxyhemoglobins differ slightly from those of normal adult oxyhemoglobins and coincide with those of normal foetal oxyhemoglobin. These differences permit to distinguish the regions of normal adult and patient oxyhemoglobins in coordinates of Mossbauer hyperfine parameters and are in agreement with our previous results. However, Mossbauer parameters of deoxyhemoglobins coincide for normal adult and patient subjects and differ slightly from those of normal foetal deoxyhemoglobin. A new additional component probably ferritin-like iron was detected in red blood cells from two patients with erythremia (13-15\% and 5-7\%, respectively).
