Abstract:
The average and maximum temperatures to which the side walls are heated in the working space of a glassmaking furnace with specific molten glass output 2.9 tons/(m(2)a (TM) day) are determined from mathematical modeling. The effect of the thermal resistance of the masonry on the heat losses into the ambient environment is examined. An energy-efficient structure of the thermal insulation of the refractory masonry that reduces the specific heat losses to 400 W/m(2) is devised.
