Abstract:
The universal formulation of Urbach's rule in solids has been considered in terms of the single-phonon approach. The ``crystalline{''} and ``glassy{''} variants of this rule, which are obtained on the basis of different ratios of contributions from the dynamic and static types of disorder, have been discussed with using some experimental data.
