Abstract:
The phase equilibria in the LaCoO3-LaMnO3-MeCoO2.5-MeMnO3 systems (Me=Sr,Ba) were studied at 1100 degrees C in air. The phases found in MeCo1-yMnyO3-delta systems are: SrCo1-yMnyO3-delta with the homogeneity range 0.45 less than or equal to y less than or equal to 0.55; BaCo1-yMnyO3-delta with homogeneity range 0.15 less than or equal to y less than or equal to 0.30 and 0.38 less than or equal to y less than or equal to 0.55 and a phase with approximate composition BaCo0.285Mn0.715O3-delta. All these phases have hexagonal structure (space group P6(3)/mmc). The homogeneity range of solid solutions of general formula La1-xMexCo1-yMnyO3+/-delta with orthorhombic (space group Pnma), rhombohedral (space group R (3) over bar c) and cubic structure (space group Pm3m) has been determined. Based on the experimental results and earlier data the pseudoquaternary phase diagram was constructed.
