Abstract:
The effect of hydrogen (0.25-0.32 wt \%) on the structure and properties of cold-worked foils produced from the VT22I and Ti-10-2-3 alloys after deformation and aging at 350-550 degrees C was studied by electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction, thermal analysis, and microhardness measurements. Alloying with hydrogen was shown to cause the formation of a (TiM)H-x-type fct hydride. The effects of alloying and conditions of hydride precipitation were studied in some detail. Enrichment of the beta phase by vanadium and hydrogen during aging was established to facilitate hydride precipitation. Schemes of beta-phase decomposition in the alloys studied at different aging temperatures are suggested.
