Abstract:
Results are presented from the development of a new series of low-cement concretes for use under different conditions in high-temperature equipment employed in ferrous metallurgy. The concrete mixtures are made with the use of a wide range of fillers-from fused corundum to fireclay. The service temperature of the concretes is within the range from 1450 to 1750A degrees C, the specific temperature depending on the composition of the filler. The concretes do not soften during heating and have excellent quality characteristics. Their practical application in high-temperature equipment and ladles used to transport molten metal at the Magnitogorsk Metallurgical Combine has demonstrated their durability in service.
