Abstract:
The effect of temperature on the 6.05-eV absorption band in the optical spectra of alpha -Al2O3 TLD-500 detectors was examined in the interval from 80 to 515 K. Using the one-coordinate model with a strong electron-phonon coupling, it was shown that this band was formed by two peaks at 5.91 and 6.22 eV (T = 293 K) associated with absorption at F+- and F-centers, respectively. Calculated parameters of experimental temperature dependencies are correlated with literature data. The obtained results permit an interpretation of the absorption spectra of detectors possessing different radiation sensitivities. (C) 2001 Elsevier Science Ltd. All rights reserved.
