Abstract:
Thermal desorption of helium from presaturated crystals was used for mass spectrometric investigations of the diffusion and solubility of helium in lead fluoride crystals in the temperature range 605-714 K which precedes the transition of the crystal to the superionic state. The experimental apparatus and measurement method are described and mechanisms for the diffusion and solubility of helium in PbF2 are discussed.
