Abstract:
A method for calculating concentration-independent diffusion coefficients based on expanding concentration profiles into Fourier series and solving the equation of the evolution of the amplitude of an individual Fourier harmonic is suggested. In contrast to the traditional methods, this one imposes no rigid restrictions on the form of the initial and boundary conditions. The method was tested in determining impurity-diffusion coefficients for manganese in the Fe-3 wt \% Si alloy. The results obtained agree well with the calculated data obtained using the method of probabilistic diagrams and hy the Matano technique.
