Abstract:
A model is constructed for the transition from evaporative to droplet flow of a liquid through a capillary in a gravitational field allowing for the mutual influence of the droplets. An S-shaped dependence of the flow on the pressure drop at the capillary is obtained which for certain (critical) values of the control parameter gives a monotonic curve. Values of the pressure drop are determined for which the droplet flow regime and the droplet-free regime become unstable. It is shown that in a certain range of pressure drops in the presence of noise transitions may take place from evaporative to droplet flow and back (intermittence).
