Abstract:
The large influence of the temperature, magnetic, and electrical fields on the transparency of (La1-xPrx)(0.7)Ca0.3MnO3 manganite thin films in the infrared range near the metal-insulator transition is discovered. The magnetic field decreases transmitted light intensity up to 55\%. These effects are connected to the shift of the mobility edge near the magnetic phase transition due to the enhancement of magnetic disorder and to the charge and magnetic nonuniformities. The La0.7Sr0.3MnO3 manganites exhibit a significant band of Faraday rotation similar to 25000 degrees /cm at 2.7 eV associated with the d-d transitions of Mn4+ ions. The revealed effects may be used to create some optoelectronic devices.
