Abstract:
For the first time the successive analysis is given of the tensor form numerical value, and temperature dependence of the two-ion exchange-relativistic anisotropy in pairs of S-like 3d-ions. Besides the familiar quasi dipolar contribution the anisotropy contains a number of new nondipolar contributions comparable with the familiar one and having their own characteristic temperature dependence. The microscopic calculation shows that the contribution of Fe3+-ion exchange-coupled pairs into the effective anisotropy constant can reach values of about 1 cm-1 exceeding the corresponding magneto-dipolar contribution. In contrast to the historically formed notations the exchange-relativistic anisotropy proves to be one of the most important sources of magnetic anisotropy and magnetoelestic coupling in magnetodielectrics based on S-like 3d-ions (Fe2+, Mn2+, Cr3+, Ni2+, ...). In the molecular field approximation the four-parameter formula for the temperature dependence of magnetic anisotropy and magnetoelastic constants is obtainted. The explanation for the particular temperature dependences K(T) in alpha-Fe2O3 and Cr2O3 is given.
