Abstract:
An electrochemical approach to solid-phase reactions was used that included the study of the effects of current and electric field parameters upon the reaction rate and reaction mechanism. For the reactions to synthesize Na-beta-alumina and compounds with electronic conductivity, the experimental data conform to the conclusions of the theory. The abnormal behavior of processes that MoO3 and WO3 participate in, nonfaradaic nature, and solid-phase flow of WO3 in the field are all explained on the basis of a bound-dispersed percolation model with the use of ideas on the electrocapillarity and solid-phase electroosmotic migration.
