Abstract:
Films of CdxPb1-xS supersaturated substitutional solid solution (ss) were prepared hydrochemically at 353 K from citrate-ammoniac batches that contained various cadmium salts (CdSO4, Cd(NO3)(2), Cd(CH3COO)(2), CdCl2, CdBr2, CdI2). The anionic component of the cadmium salt was found to affect the solid-solution composition. In the order of the decreasing CdS concentrations in the sol id solution, the cadmium salts are arranged as follows: CdSO4 --> Cd(NO3)(2) --> Cd(CH3COO)(2) --> CdCl2 --> CdBr2 --> CdI2. The structure, chemical and phase compositions, morphology, and spectroscopic parameters of the films were studied. A mechanism was advanced to interpret the effect of the cadmium salt anion on the solid-solution formation.
