Abstract:
For ferromagnetic microparticles immersed in a ferrofluid, the usual magnetic dipolar attraction between them is shown to disappear when they are still far from each other. We demonstrate that this behavior is due to the existence of a new repulsive force induced by a local inhomogeneity in the concentration of nanoparticles between the two particles.
