Abstract:

A mathematical model of the enlargement of fractal colloidal aggregates was proposed. The calculations based on this model showed that enlargement of a fractal cluster can frequently take place more rapidly than for a homogeneous aggregate. For this reason, the classic theory of first-order phase transitions is not applicable to the formation and enlargement of colloidal aggregates.
