Abstract:
High pressure, up to 10 kbar, magnetization measurements have been made for R-Co single crystals with nonmagnetic R(YCo3, Y2Co7, LaCo5 and Ce(Co1-xNix)(5)). In these compounds the Co magnetic moment can be in high or low magnetic state, depending on the filling of the 3d band. The relations between the Co moment state and pressure effect on magnetization are discussed and compared with theoretical dependencies of the magnetic moment on the volume of a unit cell.
