Abstract:
The effect of the state of molten alloy of iron with carbon (3.6\%) and silicon (2.3\%) on the solidification process was studied by determining the absolute values of density. Increasing the temperature of the molten alloy affects the interval of precipitation of primary austenite and the volume ratios of the precipitated solid phases. A model is proposed describing the structure and solidification mechanism of Fe-C-Si alloy depending on the melting temperature.
