Abstract:

Heating of imidazolyl- and phenylazo-naphthols in acetic acid in the presence of p-toiuenesulfonic acid and dimethylaniline yields imidazolyl- and phenyl-(p-dimethylamino) azobenzenes, which suggests the intermediacy of the corresponding diazo compounds.
