Abstract:
The mechanism of the anodic dissolution of zinc from a protective primer FDZEB (finely dispersed zinc on ethyl silicate binder) was examined by a galvanostatic method. Under the assumption that the particles of metallic pigment, protecting the basis metal, form continuous chains contacting both the substrate and the corrosive medium, and the rate of their anodic dissolution in the case of the coating's continuity breakdown is determined by a charge-transfer stage, a model description of the kinetics of the anodic dissolution of zinc during the corrosion protection with protective primers was suggested. The distribution density of conducting channels, characterizing the activity of a painted electrode, was taken as the kinetic parameter of the dissolution process.
