Abstract:
The effect of a dc magnetic field on isothermal martensitic transformation has been investigated in the N24G4 alloy at negative temperatures. A C-shaped diagram, which characterizes the development of isothermal martensitic transformation, has been constructed in a dc magnetic field of 50 kOe. Under the effect of a dc magnetic field, the incubation period preceding the onset of the formation of martensite decreases, the kinetic maximum of the transformation shifts toward higher temperatures, the completeness of the martensitic transformation increases substantially, and a broadening of the temperature range of transformation occurs.
