Abstract:
The results concerning investigations of morphological types of martensite formed under the effect of a magnetic field in alloys with athermal kinetics of martensite transformation are reviewed. As compared to simple cooling, magnetic field treatment permits one to obtain several morphological types of martensite for the same chemical composition of solid solution, which influence the properties of alloys. It is shown that under the effect of a magnetic field, the formation of lenticular and butter-fly martensite crystals occurs in two stages.
