Abstract:
Plastic deformation by upsetting and threading of high-alloy brass of the Cu-Zn-Mn-Al-Fe-Si-Pb system was studied with allowance for the behavior of isolated structural constituents. Plane strain during upsetting, was studied from the results of laboratory tests using a ZDMU-10t universal testing machine. A mathematical simulation of plastic deformation upon upsetting and threading was performed using the finite-element method. To this end, a geometrical model of the brass structure was constructed using statistical simulation by the Monte Carlo method. Specific features of the failure of (Fe,Mn)(5)Si-3 silicides upon deformation were studied. The effects of the shape, size, and relative arrangement of silicide particles on their mode of deformation upon threading were established.
