Abstract:
Features of the conversion of molten steel containing the surface active element vanadium are considered, and an investigation of different forms of lance nozzle units, particularly units with special aerodynamic modules, for this purpose is described. Such lances enable blowing to be effected with a variable aerodynamic wave structure, and tests with two modifications showed them to be highly effective in converting vanadium bearing hot metal by a duplex process. A technique for making such lances even more effective is suggested.
