Abstract:
Electron microscopy was used to study the structure of lamellar pearlite in the eutectoid carbon steel U8 after additional low-temperature annealing. It was shown that a transverse periodic diffraction contrast appeared in the pearlitic constituent of ferrite upon short-term annealing (5-30 min). The origin of this contrast is discussed. It was shown that its appearance can be due to the concentration inhomogeneity of the alpha-Fe(C) solid solution supersaturated with carbon. A model is considered that allows one to explain the formation of deformation-induced contrast in the ferritic matrix.
