Abstract:
Electron microscopy was used to study the fine structure of pearlite of the eutectoid carbon steel U8 after additional annealing in the cc state. It was established that dislocations with Burgers vectors b = 1/2{[}111] and b = (100) as well as dislocations with Burgers vector b = (110) that are unusual for bee crystals are generated in pearlitic ferrite. Dislocation subgrain boundaries spatially oriented in the stress fields that are formed by the end faces of partially dissolved cementite lamellae were studied. It is shown that near the boundaries of grains and pearlite colonies ferrite regions are formed that are bounded by dislocation networks and can serve as nuclei of recrystallization caused by transformation-induced hardening.
