Abstract:
Using the electron-microscopic method, planar defects in the cementite of the U8 carbon eutectoid steel with a lamellar pearlitic structure were found. It was shown that these planar defects were arranged in planes of two crystallographic types, namely, (101)(cm) and \{103\}(cm). For the (101)(cm) plane, the shear vector b(p) was determined, which was parallel to the {[}(1) over bar 01](cm) direction and characterized the stacking faults. Possible reasons for the formation of planar defects in cementite are considered.
