Abstract:
The kinetics of the isothermal bainite formation in the Fe-9\% Cr alloy was studied. According to the proposed kinetic model, the kinetics of bainite formation is determined by crystal nucleation, but the nucleation rate depends not only on the nucleation energy, but also on the probability of the atom transition through the interphase interface, i.e., actually, on the growth rate. Here, as in the foregoing work, the transformation incompleteness is explained by the defect accumulation in the initial phase and by the resulting reduction of the driving force for the transformation. The C diagram of the austenite decomposition at the bainite stage in the alloy was constructed on the basis of the model developed. The diagram is in good agreement with experimental data.
