Abstract:
The results of experimental investigations of magnetic and transport properties of polycrystalline La0.68Y0.07Ba0.25MnO3 manganites in a temperature range,of 5 to 400 K and their dependence on the regimes of heat treatment in an oxygen flow are presented. Contributions to the magnetoresistance from the bulk of grains and grain boundaries are separated. It is shown that the contribution to the magnetoresistance due to the tunneling of spin-polarized carriers through grain boundaries is maximum at low temperatures, abruptly decreases with increasing temperature, and strongly depends on the regimes of heat treatment. The experimental results are analyzed within a model that takes into account the spin-flip processes and inelastic scattering of carriers in the course of their tunneling through nanosize grain boundaries.
