Abstract:
Longitudinal sound velocity V-l and internal friction Q(-1) were measured in ferromagnetic single crystals of La1-xSrxMnO3, x = 0.15; 0.20, and 0.25 and La0.75Ba0.25MnO3 by composite oscillator method at a frequency of about 100 kHz. Increase of Sr content results in increase of V-l and weakening its temperature dependence. Giant thermal hysteresis connected with transition between orthorhombic and rhombohedral phases is found. The strong peak of Q(-1) due to relaxation process is observed in La0.75Sr0.25MnO3. (C) 2003 Elsevier B. V. All rights reserved.
