Abstract:
The influence of growth temperature on the structure of interlayer boundaries in (100)Fe/Cr super-lattices grown by molecular-beam epitaxy on single-crystal Al2O3 substrates was investigated by the X-ray reflectivity method. A new method of processing the reflectivity data, which takes into account instrumental effects, is proposed. It was established that the epitaxial growth of superlattices with a perfect microstructure is only possible in a narrow range of temperatures of 140-200degreesC. Any deviation of the growth temperature from this interval sharply worsens the quality of interlayer boundaries. It is shown that the root-mean-square roughness of Cr/Fe boundaries even at the optimum growth temperature is greater than that of Fe/Cr boundaries.
