Abstract:
A comparison of static magnetoresistive and microwave characteristics is performed on a series of Fe/Cr superlattices differing in the thickness and number of Fe and Cr layers. The superlattices were prepared by molecular-beam epitaxy on single-crystal substrates of MgO and Al2O3. An unambiguous correlation was established between the giant magnetoresistive effect characteristic of metallic superlattices, high-frequency electromagnetic losses, and transmission coefficient. The results obtained indicate that the use of microwaves makes it possible to realize (in a simple, contactless way) the current passage perpendicularly to the layers of metallic superlattices, which gives more complete information on their kinetic properties.
