Abstract:
The pressure pole in the Simon equation for the melting curve was found to be related to the internal pressure in a liquid near the triple point, a circumstance that makes it possible to approximate melting, curves by the Simon equation over a wide range of pressures on the basis of data obtained at atmospheric (zero) pressure. The predicting power of this approach was demonstrated for a series of alkanes (C-1, C-2,..., C-28) as an example.
