Abstract:
3-Acetyl- and 3-acetimidoyl-5,6,7,8-tetrafluoro-4-hydroxycoumarins react with methyl- and phenylhydrazines giving either condensation products at the acyl substituent, i.e., 5,6,7,8-tetrafluoro-3-(1-hydrazino)ethylidenebenzopyran-2,4-diones, or recyclization products, i.e., 6,7,8-trifluoro-5-hydroxybenzopyrano{[}2,3-c]pyrazol-4-ones, depending on nucleophilicity of the diamine and the nature of the solvent used. In the reaction with phenylhydrazine, the formation of 1-phenyl-3H-pyrazol-3-one derivative is also possible, and in the reaction with methylhydrazine, the formation of 7-methylhydrazinobenzopyrano{[}2,3-c]pyrazolone, too.
