Abstract:

Results are provided for a comprehensive study of substance composition, microstructure, and physical properties of andalusite concentrates from deposits in South Africa, Peru, and China. A marked effect is established for raw material chemical and mineral composition and its behavior on firing. Two groups of andalusite of different nominal quality are established on the basis of a combination of composition and properties.
