Abstract:
The phase diagrams of solid solutions with first-order structural phase transitions caused by Jahn-Teller ions were analyzed. The topology of limited solubility regions was studied. It was shown that Jahn-Teller interactions might he responsible for immiscibility of some oxide systems. Systems with additional trends toward immiscibility (of a non-Jahn-Teller nature) are characterized by three-phase equilibria and essentially different shapes of immiscibility regions. An explanation of the anomalous topology of the Mn3-yZnyO4 phase diagrams is suggested.
