Abstract:
The authors studied hardening processes and the deformation mechanism during uniaxial extension of monocrystalline and large-grained specimens of cast tantalum. The high plasticity an elliptical neck to be formed during uniaxial loading of monocrystalline specimens, a condition rarely observed in other metals with a cubic lattice having lower plasticity. The specimens exhibited different hardening characteristics depending on whether they were mono- or bicrystalline.
