Abstract:

A comparative analysis showed that the use of a solid powder lubricant greatly reduces the power requirements of the strip rolling process. The furnishing ability of this lubricant is very high even at large area reductions and low rolling rates. The surface finish of a product obtained by rolling with a solid lubricant differs little from the surface finish obtaine by rolling with oil. The effectiveness of the lubricant increases with an increase in the degree of dispersion of the powder.
