Abstract:
Oxygen injection into cast iron in basic oxygen converter leads to formation of slag with high content of iron. The slag negatively acts on refractory lining of the basic oxygen converter. Iron oxides react with the lining and destroy it. In order to evaluate influence of the slag on the lining, investigations have been performed. Refractories with various content of MgO have been utilized in the lining. High-magnesia fluxes have been used in blast oxygen converter heat, Results of the investigations have shown that application of fast dissolved fluxes makes it possible to increase contents of magnesium oxides in slag and to decrease corrosion of the lining.
