Abstract:
To avoid boundary effects calculations were performed for the central group of atoms lying in spheres of three different radii the centers of which coincide with the center of the principal molecular-dynamic translation cell. The greater anisotropy of randomly close-packed models of the amorphous state is attributed to the procedure involved in their construction: throughout the volume in question they retain information about the original ″grain″ from which the construction was started despite subsequent relaxation.
