Abstract:
It is shown that converting the air heaters of a blast furnace with a useful volume of 3000 m**3 to operation without a hot and cold blast mixer makes it possible to increase the temperature of the air heated in the heaters by 40 to 50 degree C. A study of the thermal operation of air heaters with a mixer which is incompletely closed at the start of the period showed that such a cooling regime makes it possible to increase the blast temperature, while reducing its fluctuation during the period and thus decreasing the effect of air temperature variations on the thermal and gasdynamic conditions of operation of the blast furnace.
