Abstract:
The principal stage in the production of oxidation catalysts, e. g. , for the oxidation of sulfur dioxide, is the deposition of V**5** plus and K** plus ions on a support by mechanical agitation of impregnation solution-support suspensions. We studied the sorption activity of synthetic aluminosilicates in aqueous solutions of potassium sulfate, potassium vanadate, and their mixtures, under conditions of production of vanadium catalysts. Examination of the experimental result shows that the sorption capacity of the support depends not only in its Al//2O//3 content but also on the method of its preparation or preparatory treatment. The minimal and maximal adsorption vary in accordance with the Al//2O//3 and the method of treatment. Preliminary activation of the aluminosilicate support, regardless of its Al//2O//3 content and porous characteristics, is desirable for the production of catalysts with small amounts of sorbed components.
