Abstract:
Lime is widely utilized in process of steel production. Lime is manufactured by means of limestone firing. Gas shaft kilns are applied for lime production. However, the kilns are obsolete. Rotary kiln makes it possible to produce high-quality lime. However, increased specific consumption of fuel is noted. Therefore, new combined unit has been developed for manufacturing the lime. The unit consists of shaft decarbonizer, short rotary kiln, and shaft cooler. High quality of lime is provided by means of final firing in rotary kiln. Old kilns can be reconstructed in order to create combined unit.
