Abstract:
The results of calculations of heat transfer from gas to metal under various furnace conditions are discussed. Heat transfer can be improved by intensive mixing of gases with a simultaneous increase in velocities at the metal surface to increase the convective component of heat flow. This effect can be obtained by arranging for jet flame firing with high velocity jets directed onto the metal.
