Abstract:
Problems of designing a thermonuclear reactor based on a multislot electromagnetic trap are considered. As a model, spherical geometry, which gives the highest ratio of the energy yield in the volume in relation to surface losses, is selected for calculation purposes. Based on an extrapolation of experimental data, evaluations of plasma parameters and of the thermonuclear capacity of the reactor are made. Use of the spherical focusing can make it much easier to obtain a positive output.
