Abstract:
Main features of spin-orientational transitions, stochastic magnetic structures and spin excitations are investigated in magnets with competing anisotropy. These are such compounds where a value and a sign of the second order anisotropy constant change randomly over the whole volume. Anomalies of macroscopic characteristics experimentally measured are under consideration for these systems. Investigation results are reviewed and interrelation is marked between problems on spin excitations in compounds with anisotropy fluctuations and problems on image processing and identification. Magnets with competing anisotropy are found to be convenient models for investigations because of a variety of physical properties and a simplicity of experimental techniques.
