Abstract:
The 'soft docking' of two mass points in three-dimensional space, that is, a rendezvous by a specified time instant with specified precision in the coordinates as well as the velocities, is examined. The control is constructed as an optimal strategy in some auxiliary linear-quadratic differential game with specially chosen coefficients of the quality index for known constraints on the second-point control. The solution is illustrated by a computer-simulated example.
