Abstract:

A formalization of the concept of duality in terms of abstract information systems is proposed. This formalization enables one to investigate the property of duality in the case of systems with feedback. The formalization investigates problems of control and estimation in both a guaranteed and deterministic formulation. The latter assumes that the parameters describing the system are completely known. This concept of duality is consistent with those examined earlier. However, it enables one to study wider classes of extremal problems from a single point of view.
